Heidi May
Heidi is a mixed-media visual artist and instructor who has taken to immersing herself within the Copperspine identity formation. Preoccupied with art direction, design consultation, technical preparation, recruiting talented designers, creating posters and media documentation, she enjoys helping Copperspine musicians work towards achieving their artistic goals. This behavior may be seen as pure generosity, however, the artist admits to a selfish need for distraction from her personal practice and the daunting art world that has the power to keep her immobile at times. |

Tinker Guitars - Ed Bond
Tinker Guitars sprang from the desire to build the type of high quality guitar that I would never be able to afford. I enjoyed the building process so much that I agreed to build guitars for other clients as well. Word spread and soon I had materials to build extra instruments as well. Suddenly I had a fascination and obsession to experiment with wood, bracing, and body styles. Having invested so much money to build my first few instruments, it only made sense to keep building. My intent is to build beautiful, extremely high quality, guitars that the average musician will actually be able to afford. |

Gerard Samija
Fixer of upright basses for about 14 years, recently elevated to the status of 'bass god' by a 14 year old kid on first meeting. Doesn't play the things much, plays the cello a little more. Fixes ouds and other non-bass things once in a while. Lots of fiddles pass across the workbench besides, and they're not resented. Lives in Vancouver's Cedar Cottage neighbourhood, near Charles Dickens school. Has a couple of kids, and of course a famous wife who fiddles with Dyad and Holler and some other folks. Finding time to make instruments is an ongoing struggle, but progress is made... with a hope of one day doing that full time and becoming famous in his own right. Dreams of living on Hornby Island, should the real bass gods favour him with adequate income. |
